Pricing announced for new Suzuki DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM

Suzuki GB has announced pricing for the new DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM models, which were revealed at Eicma last year. Both the dual-purpose trail bike, the DR-Z4S, and its supermoto stablemate, the DR-Z4SM, will come with an OTR price of £7,999.
Both bikes use a new 398cc single-cylinder engine and a new twin-spar steel frame with a separate, bolt-on aluminium subframe and aluminium swingarm. The DR-Z4S sports 21” and 18” spoked wheels and long-travel suspension from KYB, with 280mm of fork travel, 296mm of rear wheel travel, and 300mm of ground clearance. The SM is equipped with 17” wheels and has 260mm of front suspension travel and 277mm rear wheel travel.

An electronics package comprises three power modes and two standard traction control modes, a tailored off-road traction control setting, plus the ability to disengage the system entirely. There’s also the ability to disengage the ABS at the rear or at both ends on the 4S, for more control off-road, and at the rear of the 4SM.
Both models channel RM-Z-inspired styling, with the DR-Z4S available in Suzuki’s trademark off-road yellow as well as dark grey, while the 4SM comes in white and a new blue/grey livery, dubbed Sky Grey.
When the bikes arrive in dealerships at the end of the summer buyers will benefit from Suzuki’s standard three-year warranty and can enjoy the extended seven-year service activated warranty if they have their DR-Z serviced at an authorised Suzuki dealership.

Suzuki GB’s head of motorcycles, Jonathan Martin, said, “These may be spiritual successors to the DR-Z400S and DR-Z400SM, and they take everything that made those bikes so popular – such as their robustness and reliability – but they build on that foundation and reputation with a brand-new chassis and a new version of our 400cc single cylinder engine.
“Delivering superior levels of performance in their respective categories was our aim; for instance, ensuring the DR-Z4S is equipped with a suspension package that can take on the roughest of trails and will perform for an experienced rider off-road, while also remaining friendly for a newer rider. Engine capacity remains the same as the previous DR-Z models, but cumulative torque is improved, which in turn gives a linear throttle response and predictable power delivery, important for negotiating tougher trails or picking up the throttle out of corners on the track.
“We’re looking forward to seeing them in dealerships and are sure buyers or those taking a test ride will feel the high quality, impressive performance, but also our commitment to providing value.”

Both models come with Suzuki's standard three-year manufacturer warranty and are eligible for Suzuki's extended seven-year warranty through regular servicing at an authorised Suzuki dealership.
DR-Z4S set for ABR Festival debut

Suzuki’s hotly-anticipated DR-Z4S will make its show debut at the 2025 ABR Festival later this month, where it will be displayed for the first time ahead of its arrival late this summer.
With a brand-new version of Suzuki’s 398cc single-cylinder engine at its heart, the DR-Z is wrapped in an all-new chassis and comes equipped with selectable engine maps, traction control modes – including an off-road-focussed gravel mode – and switchable ABS.
It will be displayed alongside its supermoto stablemate, the DR-Z4SM, and Suzuki’s V-Strom range, which includes the widely-lauded V-Strom 800DE and RE, and the adventure flagship V-Strom 1050DE and V-Strom 1050RE.

Representing the firm’s off-road heritage will be the iconic DR800S, while those looking for more traditional touring adventure can poke around the GSX-S1000GX – with an electronics package topped by Showa electronic suspension – and the GSX-S1000GT.
The award-winning GSX-8R and GSX-8S will also feature.
For those keen to explore further on and off-road test rides are available on the entire V-Strom stable. Show-goers can also take the GX, GT, 8S, and 8R out on the road.
Courtesy of Suzuki Insurance those taking a demo ride that then go on to buy can get up to £200 towards their insurance*. Suzuki staff on the stand during the course of the event will provide more details.

Suzuki’s multi-championship-winning supercross team, SR75 Suzuki, will be displaying one of its RM-Z450 race bikes, plus its V-Strom 800DE project build, which adds a supercross twist to the already-off-road ready V-Strom.
The ABR Festival takes place at Ragley Hall, Alcester B49 5NJ, on 27-29 June.

Colour updates for Suzuki’s Burgman 400
Suzuki has released a trio of colour updates for the Burgman 400, the original maxi-scooter.
An effortlessly classy pearl matt shadow green is enhanced by gold wheels and black trim. The same gold wheels also standout on an otherwise-understated all-black version. The third paint scheme added to the Burgman 400 lineup is a metallic reflective blue, also equipped with the gold wheels.

First launched in 1998 and in production ever since, the current Burgman 400 is equipped with a punchy single-cylinder engine capable of returning over 70mpg.
Convenience comes from 42-litres of under-seat storage and a combined 6.3-litres of storage space with two additional compartments at the front. A traction control system keeps things in check on slippery or wet surfaces.
The Burgman 400 comes with an OTR price of £7,199.
New colours available on Hayabusa and Katana

Suzuki has unveiled a trio of new colour options for its famed Hayabusa, and two new versions of its retro Katana
Available in dealerships now, the legendary hyperbike comes in a new Metallic Matt Steel Green with black trim and a fresh silver option with standout blue details. For those seeking a more understated look, a revised black paint scheme is complemented with silver trim.

The third generation of Hayabusa provides more cumulative torque than any generation previously, with its silky smooth 1340cc, inline four-cylinder engine providing relentless torque from the bottom of its rev range.
Lean angle-sensitive electronics comprise selectable power and traction control modes, varying levels of anti-wheelie and engine braking settings, plus cruise and launch control and a bi-directional quickshifter.
All rider information is displayed via a neat colour TFT screen, nestled between two large, sweeping dials paying homage to the original, genre-defining machine from 1999.

For 2025 the Katana comes in a revised version of its iconic silver paint scheme, with a contrasting dark blue seat unit, offset with gold wheels. It is joined by a new Pearl Vigor Blue with bronze wheels.
Both models are available on Suzuki’s current 0% finance offer.

All-new DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM set to bring the fun in 2025

Suzuki has revealed all-new DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM models, with the covers pulled off the dual sport and supermoto machines today, November 5, at Eicma in Milan, Italy.
Spiritual successors to the popular DR-Z400S and DR-Z400SM models of the noughties, the two fresh 400s use a new twin-spar steel frame with a separate, bolt-on aluminium subframe and aluminium swingarm, housing a new 398cc single-cylinder engine. There’s also an electronics package that includes power modes, switchable ABS, and a sophisticated traction control system with off-road modes.
Designed to bring the fun to whatever environment, they promise to make Your World, Your Playground.

Engine
Powering both the DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM is a new 398cc, single-cylinder, liquid cooled, DOHC four-stroke engine. The new engine was designed to meet Euro 5B, while maintaining the reputation of robustness and reliability the engine found in the previous generation DR-Z400 was famed for. It provides a smooth, linear power delivery with stronger torque at lower rpm and increased power output to the rev limit, plus improved fuel economy.
When compared to the previous DR-Z400 engine, there are changes to almost every aspect, from lightweight titanium intake valves and hollow, sodium-filled exhaust valves to new cam profiles and piston. A new cylinder head is equipped with twin spark plugs, there are new crankcases, and a new slipper clutch with Suzuki’s Clutch Assist System.

Fuelling comes courtesy of a ride-by-wire, 42mm bore, electronic throttle body and a 10-hole fuel injector. There’s a new air box, and a new exhaust. The result is a broader spread of power across the rev range, strong drive yet smooth ride, a direct, linear throttle response, and improved fuel economy.
Peak power is 38PS at 8,000rpm, with a peak torque figure of 37Nm at 6,500rpm. Both achieve over 80mpg.

Electronics
Both models use a package of carefully selected, ride-enhancing electronic aids; the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System.
Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) means riders can choose from one of three power modes. Each mode reaches the same peak power output, with A the most direct, delivering the full amount of low-down torque available from the 398cc single-cylinder engine. Modes B and C are progressively softer, allowing riders to dial back the initial power delivery to suit in slippery or low grip conditions.
There are two standard traction control modes on both, with each also equipped with its own specific G (gravel) mode. G mode aims to maintain maximum off-road performance by allowing a certain amount of wheel spin. G mode’s level intervention is set slower than for the traction control system’s other two standard modes, and the maximum level of intervention is also set lower, too. This provides the right balance between preventing excessive wheel spin on slippery surfaces and minimising power loss on surfaces with traction, making the bike easier to control.

On the DR-4S it focuses on enabling riders to enjoy off-road riding with confidence. It does so by adopting an updated version of the system when compared with the application on the V-Strom 1050DE and V-Strom 800DE, by being effective not only on flat surfaces but also on undulating terrain and inclines. On DR-Z4SM it is tailored more towards flat-dirt surfaces, while allowing a little more slip tolerance than on the V-Strom DEs. Allowing more spin lets the rider better tap into the model's supermoto character.
Further enabling greater control off-road is an ABS system that riders can tailor to their needs and riding conditions. On the DR-Z4S riders can disengage the ABS at the rear, or at the front and rear. On the DR-Z4SM, riders can disengage the rear ABS.
There’s also Suzuki’s easy-start system, which means the engine fires up with one press of the starter button, and there’s no need to pull the clutch lever when starting in neutral.
All rider information is displayed via a compact LCD dash.

Chassis
A brand new, twin-spar steel frame was developed for the new DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM. It is mated to a new aluminium subframe and an aluminium swingarm. Like the engine, it was designed to build on the previous model's reputation for precise, agile handling and easy manoeuvrability. The new chassis is rigid, yet supple, meaning it can absorb impact and bumps on rougher terrain, and reduce rider fatigue.
Long-travel suspension on both the DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM comes from KYB, specifically tuned for each model’s intended application. There is 280mm of front fork travel and 296mm of rear wheel travel on the DR-Z4S, while the DR-Z4SM has 260mm of front suspension travel and 277mm of rear wheel travel. Both have compression and rebound damping adjustment at the front and rear. There’s also preload adjustment on the rear shock.

Wheels are wire-spoked on both. The DR-Z4S is fitted with a 21” front and 18” rear, compared to the 17” rims in the DR-Z4SM. IRC GP-410, dual purpose, tubed tyres are standard on the S, while the SM is shod with Dunlop SPORTMAX Q5A tyres.
There are disc brakes all round, and the tapered aluminium handlebars are equipped with half-waffle grips which distribute pressure across the palms and make the grips easier to hold, aiding control and greatly reducing rider fatigue. Foot pegs are wide and solid, providing sure-footing and a robustness to withstand impacts off-road. There’s also an aluminium under guard as standard.
Ground clearance comes in at a useful 300mm on the DR-Z4S, and 260mm on the DR-Z4SM. Seat heights are 920mm and 890mm and they weigh 151kg and 154kg, respectively.

Styling
Taking design cues from Suzuki’s RM-Z range, the new DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM are designed to emphasise agile performance with a linear connection from front to rear. The focus was on establishing a bold horizontal line along the sides that cuts right from the front fender through to the tail.
Ergonomics also played a key role in the new design, and the DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM are crafted as to not interfere in any way with the rider and their movement.
Lighting all-round is LED, from the single assembly headlight, rear combination lights, and indicators.

The DR-Z4S is available in Suzuki’s signature off-road Champion Yellow, and Solid Iron Grey, both with black rims. The DR-Z4SM comes in a new blue/grey colour scheme, dubbed Sky Grey, plus a Solid Special White, equipped with blue rims.
The ‘DR-Z’ decals on each side of the cowling, in front of the engine, are modern and simple. Following the horizontal line along the cowling, these decals feature a colourful gradation below the lettering that reflects the modern image of the DR-Z.
A range of accessories is also available, which includes items such as hand guards, a lower seat, and a rear carrier rack.
